In 2017 I participated in a field school in Berlin held by Simon Fraser University. Impacted by the traces of the past present in Berlin, I began visiting sites of Jewish life and Holocaust monuments throughout the city. I was struck by the presences and absences which permeate Berlin’s urban environment.
